Which status is right for you?

While we hope that you have carefully considered your decision to request a change of status as thoughtfully as you considered your decision to accept your bid and take your oath to a lifetime of membership in Phi Sigma Sigma, we understand that circumstances come up that limit your ability to participate.

Where full participation by a sister is not possible due to circumstances beyond her control; she may petition for one of the following:

    Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does the process take?
A: Headquarters staff aims to respond to all status change requests within 2 business days of submission

Q: I want to disaffiliate, how do I request to disaffiliate?

A: You should speak with your Member At Large to complete this process. You may also email your Chapter Services Manager stating your intention to disaffiliate.

Q: I was disaffiliated by standards board and would like to appeal. What is the process?
A: Please reach out to your Chapter Services Manager (or any Headquarters staff member) for specific details on how to appeal. We will work with you on collecting the proper documentation, and your CSM will submit the appeal to Supreme Council on your behalf.

Q: What if my MAL won't respond to me?

A: Reach out to your Chapter Services Manager. She can assist with any request, and will also be sure to follow up with your MAL to confirm why there is a lack of communication.

Q: What if I don't want to disclose my personal business with members of my chapter?

A: You do not need to disclose personal business with your chapter if you do not wish. Should you want to apply for a status that requires a letter of support from your chapter’s archon, you may request a letter stating that you are in good standing with the chapter, and eligible to be granted a status.

Q: How do I know if my status change has been approved?
A: If you submit an application to Headquarters via the online portal, you will receive an automated email confirming that your status has been approved or denied and why. If your status is being updated by your MAL, she will communicate your status change approval, or let you know that is has been denied and why.

Q: What kind of documentation do I need? Where do I find it?
A: Details about what documentation is needed for each status can be found above. ALL status changes require proof of GPA in good standing (2.5 or higher), and your Billhighway (and housing, if applicable) be paid in full. Academic transcripts (unofficial are acceptable), official correspondance from your university and/or employer confirming your participation in an approved program are all accepted digitally.

Q: I missed the deadline to apply, but something just came up that requires a change. What do I do?
A: You may still submit a request to update your status. We cannot guarantee that dues will be refunded or waived beyond the deadline.
